Via Plymouth, America's hometown, Canadian Larch Wood Comes to the USA

Dateline: Plymouth, MA, Issued August 20, 2002…
Professional Interiors Inc., a Plymouth, Mass.-based company, has been named as the exclusive United States distributor of Eastern Canadian larch flooring, offering building professionals and homeowners, bored with the usual flooring choices, a unique alternative. Though new to the U.S., larch wood has been used for centuries in Canada and Europe for shipbuilding, floorboards, furniture, exterior siding and construction.

Thriving in the harsh climate of long Nova Scotian winters, larch wood exhibits distinctively handsome flame-like color patterns, small knots, tight grains and varying hues. Its inimitable appearance transforms any home into a splendid showcase. The solid wood larch flooring's durability equals that of many of the hardwood species due to its dense grain.

After enduring the severe winters of Eastern Canada, larch wood has no trouble remaining gorgeous beneath the daily assaults of active families and pets. Spills and spots are easily wiped away. Just the sweep of a broom or the swish of a damp mop is all the maintenance needed to keep these floorboards stunning.

"I discovered larch flooring at a trade show and immediately I was in love with the product's beauty," smiles Bruce Puffer, commercial interior designer and owner of Professional Interiors Inc. "After living with the larch flooring I installed in my home, I'm now also taken with its durability and warmth. I've made it a mission to bring this distinctive flooring choice to builders and homeowners in the USA."

Located on the banks of the legendary Margaree River in Nova Scotia, the flooring plant processes the locally harvested rough sawn product which is air dried for twelve months, then kiln dried using a state of the art computerized system. Floorboards are then pre-planed, molded, sorted and end-matched and await shipping in a climate-controlled room.

An extremely dense wood, larch contains inherent rot-resistant properties, making it a priceless construction material that surpasses pressure-treated lumber as an environmentally friendly product. All around, larch flooring offers builders, professionals, and homeowners an outstanding new choice in interior design.
